Despite the custom engineered nature of Industrial Graphics products and their critical function, our typical customers consider them to be “C or D” supply chain items. Recognizing this, GSI focuses on helping our customers deal with their graphics components as cost effectively and effortlessly as possible. For instance, a single plant may have hundreds of specs for warning and instructional labels, nameplates, wiring diagrams and control panel overlays…each of which is used in relatively small annual quantities. Our GSI team will analyze this mix of graphics products and recommend opportunities to:

• Consolidate multiple labels performing like functions to promote consistency, reduce SKUs and improve ordering efficiency
• Consolidate and reduce the variety of materials being used while still meeting UL and cUL requirements, further improving ordering efficiency
• If a customer employs cell manufacturing on their shop floor, we can “cluster” all graphics parts applied to one product onto a single sheet for cost reduction and efficiency improvement on the factory floor

The “low volume – high mix” nature of custom Industrial Graphics products means supply chain personnel must deal with repeatedly ordering small quantities of up to hundreds of different parts, frequently on short notice. This drives up costs, creates paperwork and increases the risk of holding up the shipment of expensive products for a 5-cent label or nameplate. After our GSI team studies a customer’s usage patterns, we can:

• Develop a Kanban program, ensuring that parts are produced in cost effective quantities and shipped as needed or on pre-set schedules
• Implement a “min-max” program to assure that we always have on hand agreed upon quantities of critical parts ready to ship same day
• Utilize our ERP system to tap into our customer’s production schedule or parts inventory, and produce and ship parts for JIT delivery
